K-Town
[edit]The entire section was recently deleted with the edit comment "(K-Town is in more than just North Lawndale)."
But, first of all, two cited sources support an identification with North Lawndale and its inclusion in this article:
http://www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org/pages/1440.html
- Residents of North Lawndale Community Area sometimes refer to the western part of their neighborhood as “K-Town”
(True Vine: A Young Black Man's Journey of Faith, Hope, and Clarity, by John W Fountain, [1]) says
- For much of my life, I lived in this place called K-Town, which sits in the heart of a community known as North Lawndale.
Since K-Town is not an official name, and since the streets whose names begin with K are long, there's probably no definitive statement of its bounds.
If there are portions of it in other communities, then the appropriate thing is to note that in the article (citing a source of course), and perhaps to mention it in the articles on those communities—not to delete the description in this article. Dpbsmith (talk) 15:47, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
==Not a part of the quotation==
[edit]68.230.16.112 recently added this to the quotation from True Vine
- now the medium income is only 18k.. what a shame.. maybe something will happen one day to change it all
This appears to be the editor's general comment on the situation in K-Town. It does not seem to be part of the quotation, so I'm moving it here to Talk. The fact that the medium income is only 18K would be interesting to have in the article, if properly sourced. Dpbsmith (talk) 22:06, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Anton Dvorak School is now a Charter School
[edit]Would be useful to add the link to Anton Dvorak Elementary and the current institution of a charter school there. http://auslchicago.org/schools/pages/dvorak Might be useful for people moving to the area to know its history and current position in education.--sheridanford (talk) 15:58, 12 January 2017 (UTC)
